Tasty and Chewy Banana Oat Meal Cookies - Long Live And Joy

All these Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the very best banana flavored cookie I've ever had. Not only are they moist and chewy for times, but they're unmistakably banana-y.

Banana may be one of these flavors that can get lost once you inhale with this. It can be quite subtle taste. It always bums me out if that occurs, cause I really like the taste of banana. And so does the hubs.

So when good brewed banana treats come together, we go a little mad for them.

These cookies make the listing of banana items to go mad for. Without a doubt.

And they are so moistthey melt in your mouth. Additionally, with both oats and banana in them, they're basically healthy, right? And ideal for breakfast!

Creating them is just as simple as eating them.

You start with mixing all those beautiful components together.

I must warn you. The odor of the mixture -- using all the banana -- is equally intoxicating. The hubs was at the kitchen which makes the dough together with me (we left a deal that included him baking with me) and we had to work hard not to place our faces, or even a straw, straight in to it.

You then add all of the ingredients (which usually means you only use one bowl -- yay!) And mix it all together!

To bake themspoon out about a tablespoon of dough and create a thick disk, as opposed to a chunk. They spread a bit after baking, and thus don't put them too close together. Bake them for about 10-12 minutes for a fine, moist cookie. So yummy!

1 additional thing I love about this recipe is where it came out.

My grandmother (my father's mother ) passed out in 2008. Once I started draining a lot a couple of years ago, my uncle gave me her cookbook he'd had and didn't use. I have had it in my list to create a number of her desserts since.

My father and I left her gaufrettes (a French cookie -- my grandparents were French) a year or so ago. It was a convention for my grandmother to make them every Christmas! She gave everyone a big tin of them, which was quite a feat with 6 sons.

I know just how much of a feat it was! My goodness. She made them using a conventional gaufrette iron that goes over a open fire. My father and I had them in the cooker. They cook very fast and you need to be exact. Too long and they kind of disintegrated into the iron. Overly long and they burnt to the iron and we had to wash it out.

My dad was pouring the batter and removing the cookies, I was working the iron, the hubs was time things. It required quite a few attempts to get it right, but they were so good! I have tried to create them again on my own and it never works. I'd really like to share the recipe, however, the dang irons are all so tough to discover. And expensive. Sooner or later, I this page would love to just make a cookie with the same gaufrette taste.

For now though, I am sharing these biscuits. I don't believe I ever had them made thembut they're from her novel.

It is such a fun recipe book to check through, also. There are many handwritten pages, including clippings and paper recipes that were taped to the book. I love the way that they used to write recipes from the newspaper -- they'd the person who filed it's name and adorable little stories. It's so fun to read ! What a different time on the planet!

Anyways, I do not really know where this recipe came out. The newspaper looks like it was on a flier from their square dancing class or something (they have been big into square dance ). It is undoubtedly from West Virginia, in which they dwelt.



In any event, I am so happy to finally share a recipe out of her book with you! I made a few changes to make them thicker and puffier and they're delicious. There'll be more to come out of her recipe book, but for now enjoy the banana.

MOIST AND CHEWY BANANA OATMEAL COOKIES

Return: 34-36 COOKIES

 


INGREDIENTS:



1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract





1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 tsp ground cloves

2 tsp cornstarch

3 cups old fashioned oats

DIRECTIONS:

3. Stir in milk.

4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

5. Spoon tablespoons of dough onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Flatten dough just a little bit, into thick discs. They will disperse a bit when boiled.

7. Remove from oven and cool on cookie sheet for 3-4 minutes, then proceed into cooling rack to finish cooling.
